MOTION is not yet on sale. This notice covers the website and the early-access app as they are today.

1. Who we are

MOTION is based in the United Kingdom. For anything about your data, write to [email protected].

2. The short version

  • The MOTION app keeps your data on your Mac. Nothing leaves it unless you switch on cloud sync, connect a storage service or create request links, and each of those has its own switch.
  • Your video files never pass through us.
  • This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from third parties.
  • We do not sell or share personal data.

3. This website

The waiting list. If you join, we store the email address you type, the time, and where the visit came from (a referral code or campaign tag in the link, or the page that linked here, or "direct"). We use the address for one purpose: to write to you about MOTION, which means a short note when there is something to show and the founding offer when it opens. Every email carries a link that removes you with one click, and you can write to [email protected] at any time to be deleted. The list is stored on our own server in Finland and nowhere else. Legal basis: your consent, given by joining; withdrawn by leaving.

Server logs. Like every web server, ours records the IP address, time and page of each request for security and capacity, and deletes those records after 30 days.

Email. If you write to us, we keep what you wrote and your address for as long as the conversation needs, and for two years after the last message, so we can pick it up again if you return.

4. The app, in early access

  • The app stores projects, filenames, versions and approvals in a database on their Mac. Nothing is reported to us; the app does not contact a licence server and sends no usage data.
  • When you connect a storage service such as Dropbox, that is a connection between your Mac and your own account there. We never hold your token; it lives in your Mac's Keychain. The app copies files you choose into folders you choose, from your Mac, and never deletes anything in your account.
  • Cloud sync, if switched on, mirrors project names, filenames, versions, approvals and the names and email addresses of the people on a project into a workspace we host for that team. The team that owns the workspace decides what goes in it and is the controller of that data; we process it on their instructions, in the United Kingdom or the European Union, and delete it when the workspace is closed.
  • Request links, if created, let someone outside the team send a request through a public form; what they type (name, email address, department and the request) goes into that team's workspace and is theirs to keep or delete.

5. Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis. Write to [email protected].

6. Children

MOTION is a work tool. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16; if a child has joined the list, tell us and we will delete the entry.

7. Changes

We will post changes here. For changes that affect what we do with your data, we will email the people on the list first.
